Its so rewarding to grow things isn't it? Its just starting to get milder here, been a long winter.<br /> Nancy JoNancy Johttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14053380908832182134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3437060109079443112.post-42035756713183834492011-04-07T08:36:47.267-05:002011-04-07T08:36:47.267-05:00Yikes about the writing! Get the tomatoes boiling hot-have the jars hot and once you fill the hot jars with the hot tomatoes and put the lid on-it seals itself as it cools. All the canning books say that it is a very dangerous method-and not to try it. But I know families who've canned theirs like that for 50 years or more.Tipperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11714281090985487356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3437060109079443112.post-76517204744774679672011-04-06T07:20:29.468-05:002011-04-06T07:20:29.468-05:00Our last frost date is May 15th. You can also process your tomatoes in a canner, but I guess that would be even harder than water bath canning. I cook my tomatoes for 20 minutes, cool them and put in quart freezer bags. I've always done that, my freezer has lots of tomatoes in it. When I first started blogging the reason I named my blog Writing in the Blackberry Patch, was because I said if I was to get any writing done it would have to be down in the berry patch, because that is where I spent most of my time. I'm sorry, but I had to grin a little with your little name change thing. Good luck with your novella, I'm curious how many words are in it? I am anxious to read it.Janet,https://www.blogger.com/profile/17796999156668844943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3437060109079443112.post-84424810246558445952011-04-06T06:48:07.723-05:002011-04-06T06:48:07.723-05:00Oh how I envy you writing, I just can't find t...Oh how I envy you writing, I just can't find the time? I would be curious to know!Paulahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02693565002250035794noreply@blogger.com
