Good morning! Welcome to Show and Tell Friday! Kelli at There is No Place Like Home sponsors Show and Tell every Friday. To get in on the fun, click on over there and read how to get involved.
Today, I am showing you two of my Homer Laughlin platters I purchased on eBay last year. I love the old-fashioned look of these platters. I have several more and have had to put a 'limit' on my purchases, as I find them quite addictive!
The platter on the left is in the Brittany pattern, the one on the right is one of the many Virginia Rose patterns. There seems to be several different versions of all the Homer Laughlin patterns. If any of you believe that I have identified these patterns wrong--please tell me! The creamer is one that I bought for $1 at a flea market recently. The brown tea pot was purchased back in the 1980s at the Dollar Store.
Have a great day!
RMary
No wonder why you find them addictive. They are beautiful. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteThe one on the left would go very nicely in my new kitchen. I'll have to look for one similar to it, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely. My sister collects platters, they are pretty and functional.
ReplyDeleteThe way you display them is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteRM,
ReplyDeleteHow pretty, I bet I could find one at the thrift at some point. People around here seem to get rid of the best stuff.
I made a bunch of dish towels this moring and put a picture on my site.Pretty soon we are off for an overnight at my Aunts. She is 92 and we go down and take her to dinner and have a visit. She still drives and goes to quilting and plays cards and makes things for the nursery at the local hospital. I should be so good at 92.!
I love platters such as that especially at the Holiday's to hold all the yummy slices or turkey or ham!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm hungry...lol!
:)
They are beautiful, and I love the green beadboard behind them! It sets them off quite nicely.

I believe my mom owns one of the platters with the Virginia Rose pattern. I can't wait to go to her house and check the back!! Yours are lovely displayed for all to enjoy. Do you also use them?
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I have some dishes I want...and fabric...and lots of other stuff. *G*
ReplyDeleteLovely platters and I like the way you've displayed them with the other 2 smaller pieces.

Homer Laughlin has so many gorgeous patterns. Your platter on the left has been one of my favorites. I'm always buying another HL piece when I find one. Just can't resist ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful platters. Do you use them? I would be concerned about the lead content... you can get a lead testing kit at most stores these days. *I know, I put a damper on things lol*
ReplyDeleteRoseMary, I have tagged you to do a ME ME ME. You will have to go to my blog to see what to do. If you deside to do it, please let me know so I can come and read yours. connie from Texas

Love to see antique dishes and teapots...beautiful...I have quite a collection myself!
ReplyDeleteThose platters are very pretty. ahht a great find.
ReplyDeleteActually, the name "Brittany" and "Virginia Rose" refers to the shape of your platters. They are not the pattern names.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern names of your platters are (L) "Majestic" on the Brittany shape, and "Spring Wreath" on the Virginia Rose shape.
Thank you, Janice! I always appreciate learning something new about my collections!
