We've still a lot to do~but the decking is down! Our next step is a trip to the sawmill to purchase cedar boards to cover the 'skinny' porch posts. Then the railings. Then, the ceiling. And steps. Can't forget steps~they'll be next, I hope.
Right now we're using hillbilly steps~the aluminum ladder you see in the picture!
The cats, of course, think that we built the porch for them.
Pumpkin is especially fond of the old swing hubby
brought out of storage. I'm not sure how much she'll like it once it's hung.
Poppy? He can't be bothered with silly things like swings.
Speaking of 'next steps'~do y'all think I ought to paint the swing? I can't decide. I'm thinking if I do, I'll paint it red or a very dark green.

Your porch is looking very nice. The cats are cute.
ReplyDeleteI like the natural look of the swing but it may need some kind of sealant on it. I've been thinking of that with our porch rockers. They are looking kinda bad cause they dont' have anykind of sealant or paint on them.
Blessings
Hi Rose Mary, Oh you're going to love this porch! I like for a swing to blend in with the porch - not stand out. I once had a white screened in porch and painted the swing white. But on this natural wood porch I'd just put water seal on it and leave it natural. blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteWell, you know me....I'd go for painting it "RED". :) lol

Hi Rosemary, your porch is wonderful, I just love the cordwood, you'll have to post pics of the cabin, I'd love to see it! And you must paint the swing red, just something about red outside the house? As I get older, I"m finding I'm having more unfinished projects and it's driving me crazy, like you, I gotta have my house in order! Enjoy this lovely weather!
ReplyDeleteYour porch is looking wonderful. Pumpkin & Poppy are adorable and look like they enjoy the porch just the way it is :-)
ReplyDeleteOooooh I can't wait to see what you decide to do with the swing, Rose Mary!!
ReplyDeleteI love your Hillbilly steps!!
I am going to be so jealous of your porch...that is my dream and someday I hope I will have one!!! Yours looks so pretty!!! I just love your blog!

Well, I think the brown looks very appropriate with the cabin. But I also think red would look like a spot of bright color and you would really enjoy that too. And wouldn't it look cute at Christmas time with a cute blanket and christmas pillow on it?
ReplyDeleteI'm not able to decide.
The porch looks so nice! The hillbilly ladder would be fun for awhile-but I guess you do need steps. HaHa.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your input! I'm still wavering between natural and red. I may have to go with red, depending on what sort of 'patching' hubby has to do on the swing. I think it'll look nice either way. Our door is red (you can't see that in the picture) so it will kinda go with it if I paint it.

ReplyDeleteHOW NICE EVERYTHING LOOKS, THE KITTIES TOO!!
Oh a porch swing, how exciting. I like both colors, dark green and red, let us know which one you decide on.

Oh Rose Mary! How I love your cabin! And the porch looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a porch swing on our front porch when we lived in a log cabin (that was six years ago--can't believe it!-- That place will always have a special place in my heart!) My girls and I spent many a happy evening talking "girl talk" on that swing!
May you make many sweet memories as you sit and swing on your lovely porch!
Blessings to you!
Claudia O.
I just wanted to add--I ADORE YOUR KITTIES!!!!!
