Back To The Closet

I am back to organizing my bedroom closet. Today I've made more headway~thrown out a few more papers, found some items for the Goodwill, etc. Anything is progress.

I also emptied and removed the shoe rack that hung on the door, as it continually caught on the frame when you tried to shut the door. That means all the shoes had to find another home, which wasn't so bad after I threw out a lot of papers in a small bookcase under my clothes.

I'm also considering taking the closet door off and putting lace curtains over the opening. You have to close the bedroom door to open the closet door, due to poor planning by an amateur house designer (me!). So, if anyone is in the closet and someone else opens the bedroom door, there is a loud bang as the two doors collide together, leaving a lot of scars on the bedroom door. Removing it will also let more air into the closet, which is not vented~also due to poor planning.

I'm sure you are all having much more exciting lives than this~but this is the current news from the cabin, LOL!

  5. That's exactly what I've been doing as well. It feel so wonderful to declutter and find homes for all sorts of unneeded things. I hauled away 15 bags last week ... I'm not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed that I let it get that out of control.

Love the idea of a lace curtain for a door. Not only will it solve your problem but add elegance to your closet.

Hope you've enjoyed a lovely weekend!

  6. I hate my closet. It's one of those where the closet space goes beyond the door opening for about another foot or foot and a half. How do they expect you to get to those clothes with any ease at all. It is not a deep walk-in closet. I think the door opening should be the same size as the closet. I also took down my doors and put up curtains. The way my doors worked, you could only see half of the closet at a time.

  7. January is a great time of year of organizing, out with the old, in with the new. I think many of us are immersed in these exciting projects ;) It always feels great once it's done!

  8. I'm getting ready to tackle the closet in the spare bedroom. I keep my Christmas decorations in there, and when I opened the door to put them up a few weeks ago, everything fell out on my head!!

How are you doing with the ice? We only had 6 or so inches of snow mixed with sleet, so we are counting our blessings.

    Thinking of you!
