Friday

Sorry I've been away from my blog for so long. And, from visiting all of yours. I'm finally caught up with a writing project that was taking up all my time.

Jackie is improving everyday. She's always excited to see us in the mornings and she's also learned that the cats are in charge around here, LOL! She gets along with them well as long as she's not too pushy. She's learned that they have sharp things on the ends of their paws and she's pretty quick in avoiding them.

We picked up the last ingredients we were needing for our square foot beds, so now the building should begin! I'll try to take pictures as we go along and I'll be looking forward to seeing all of your gardening pictures, too.

Have a great Valentine weekend!

We had a busy weekend around the cabin and I'm still working on some of those projects.

The most fun thing we did was adopt a new pet! Her name is Jackie. She a one year old German Shepherd/Collie/? mix. Jackie spent half of her life at the shelter, so she is a little shy and is trying hard to adjust to being out in the 'real world'.

We've had our share of strays, but she is the first dog we've adopted from a shelter. We are looking forward to a lot of fun years with her.
I am painting some shelves today, as well as working on a writing project that I need to get finished and in the mail in a few days.

I hope all of you are having a wonderful week!

Good Afternoon

I guess it is about time I return to my blog! I've been busy with so many projects that are all about half finished. The closet is finally arranged as well as possible, but I have decided not to take the door off. I would love to have it off--it would look better-but, that closet is our only 'tornado' shelter when it storms, so I guess it will have to stay.

Our electricity was off and on, off and on all day yesterday, until last night when it finally went out around 9:30 or so. It came back on about 8 o'clock this morning, and we are very thankful for it! We only caught the bottom edge of the terrible ice storm that is moving across this part of the country, but north of us, it is bad. Some people will not have their electricity for days and days.

I want to say a great big thank you to Dana. She was having a big giveaway on her blog and my box of treasures (above) arrived on Saturday. As you can see, she is a very talented artist! She is also a writer, gardener, and blogger, so be sure and visit her! And by the way, Dana, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone up in northwest Arkansas. There is a big job ahead to get it cleaned up and it will be years before it completely recovers.

Back To The Closet

I am back to organizing my bedroom closet. Today I've made more headway~thrown out a few more papers, found some items for the Goodwill, etc. Anything is progress.

I also emptied and removed the shoe rack that hung on the door, as it continually caught on the frame when you tried to shut the door. That means all the shoes had to find another home, which wasn't so bad after I threw out a lot of papers in a small bookcase under my clothes.

I'm also considering taking the closet door off and putting lace curtains over the opening. You have to close the bedroom door to open the closet door, due to poor planning by an amateur house designer (me!). So, if anyone is in the closet and someone else opens the bedroom door, there is a loud bang as the two doors collide together, leaving a lot of scars on the bedroom door. Removing it will also let more air into the closet, which is not vented~also due to poor planning.

I'm sure you are all having much more exciting lives than this~but this is the current news from the cabin, LOL!
