Good morning! I'm off for some household shopping today. Hopefully, I can get it done and be back before it rains. We seem to be in a very rainy stretch right now. I know that some of you could really use some of this moisture, so I will not complain about it. We need it now, as we always seem to dry out terribly in the hot summer.
This is an ideal recipe to use when you are down to your last apple and are tired of eating them plain. It is fast, simple and very good to eat!
Apple Squares
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
1/4 cup of butter, melted
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped apple--I always use Golden Delicious
1/2 chopped walnuts
Set oven at 350. Stir flour baking powder, salt and cinnamon together.
Melt butter and add to sugars, egg and vanilla, beating with spoon until smooth.
Stir in flour mixture, apple and walnuts until thoroughly combined. Spread in 8x8 greased pan. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, if desired. Bake for 30 minutes or until slightly brown and tests done. Cool completely and cut into squares. Enjoy!
Have a great day.

ReplyDeleteThat looks very yummy, and lots of times I have one apple left.
Beautiful day here today, birds are going crazy, the squirrels are having fun digging up my new plants so all is well.
Went to the thrift store, got some nice things. I'am trying to go less but its no working so far.
