Wednesday Morning

Good morning! We are having a beautiful start our day~I have the front door open and a rooster is crowing out in the front yard. Anyone who thinks that it is quiet in the country must not have chickens. It's not unusual for them to start crowing at three a.m.

Jackie is in back of the house barking back at some dogs across the lake. I think after being in the shelter and listening to the other dogs bark all the time, that she is amazed at the sound of her own voice.

Pumpkin is enjoying her milk. She's finally strong and healthy, but she has not been spayed yet, so she is having a little bit of in-house time until she can go back out. I hope to get her to the vets sometime in the next month.

There's not much other news around the cabin. We've been enjoying some more garden research and are anxious to get planting when the time is right!

  1. Just a typical day on the farm. Our neighbor has chickens and I can tell you... they wake up at 4 AM!

  2. I hear ya! We have neighbors who have a couple of chickens and a rooster. But, I don't really mind hearing them. Our property is almost 4 acres so we have lots of space between "neighbors". So we are "kind of" in the country. I love hearing the birds and the sound of the train a few miles away. How loud I hear it depends on which direction the wind is blowing. My husband both listen for our visiting owls...and the baldeagles. Once in awhile we get a visiting family of deer who are just passing through. While I think of it...what is "corewood" anyways Regards, from one of your blog followers. Love to hear about your garden plans..

  3. Wasn't this the most beautiful day! I love Arkansas but sometimes I think we have the best of the best weather (only on days like today!). blessings, marlene

  5. LOL I had to chuckle about the rooster, Rose Mary... my little Silkie was crowing at 2:30 in the morning the other night, and that started the dog barking!! JEEZ!!

  6. Mary,
I visited Tipper's blog, Blind Pigs and Acorns, and decided to visit your site, too. It is great. I especially like this story about the rooster, and living on the farm. I have some poetry about quilts on my blog. You might want to visit my site at:
