Summer!

As you can see, it definitely looks like summer outside my living room windows! I know summer doesn't get here officially until June 21, but living in a southern state gives us a few 'bonus' months on either side of the real season.

I took this picture yesterday. At the moment there is a nice little thunderstorm moving through our area. It was already 84 degrees outside when we got up at 6:30 this morning. Hopefully, this rain will cool us down a little, else we are in for a very hot day!

We have a new addition to our little farm family--eight new chicks hatched out almost two weeks ago. I've been trying to get some pictures of them, but they are fast little things and so far I've only managed to get a few blurs. I'll try to post a picture of them, soon. We are always excited to get a few more 'bug eaters' and egg layers. Right now, chickens are about the only 'farm' type creatures we have, except for the guard dog (at least that is supposed to be his job- He gets rather lazy sometimes) and a few cats that stay on mouse duty.

Have a great day.

  1. A wonderful photo - and we do appear to have the same blinds!!

I would luv your heatwave, as it's been unsettled here past days and did rain during the night.

Hope your thunderstorm brings you much needed rain and cools the temperature - otherwise that guard dog will be having another 'siesta'.

    Blessings

  4. Oh new little chicks, how cute. little balls of feathers.
Looks like we are in for a dandy big dandy thunder storm this afternoon. I put a lot of my plants on the deck under the picnic table so they wouldn't get so beat up.
Put a picture of my spoon collection on my site. I had them packed away and thought that wasn't to smart, so I put them out. Now I will remember when I am out and about to look for more. Now you know I need more stuff. HA.

  5. Peter, I am afraid that the guard dog has a lot of siestas! He is getting along in years, though, so I guess he deserves it.

Hope the rest of you don't fare too bad in the thunderstorms. I always dread looking at the damage the heavy rain does to my plants.

  8. Congrats on the new chicks, RoseMary! We had a thunderstorm earlier in the week, too. Same night we brought home the new horse. Let me tell you, that was not my favorite storm to blow through!

  9. I know what you mean about those southern bonus summer months! We have just started hitting the low 90's here in Texas.
I hope you got the cooling thunderstorm!

  10. I bet some pics of "little yellow blurs" would be cute too.

When I read or hear of chicks, I always remember that old, old "I Love Lucy" show... When they were living out in the country and she decided to send for chicks. Oh my! That was so funny.

I suppose it wasn't really... Because a lot of chicks must have gotten hurt, in the filming of that show. But ... I still remember doing so much laughing... watching that over and over in reruns.
