Roses In January

God gave us memories so that we might have roses in December.

J.M. Barrie

These are my roses in January. Don't you love the fact that God gave us memories? We can recall so many wonderful people and events in our lives even when their time is past. This pretty little canister belonged to my grandmother. She kept it in her kitchen, as I do now. I'm sure she purchased it at a yard sale or a thrift shop. It was my grandmother that taught me the fun of thrift shopping and I will be ever grateful to her for it. Every time I look at this pretty little tin, I think of her.

It is beautiful out this morning--cold and sunny, giving us the hope of a little warmth later in the day.

Wherever you are, I wish for you a bright and pleasant day. Stay warm.

  2. I love the colours of your canister and how you are carrying on the tradition of keeping it in the kitchen as grandma did.

  7. A beautiful and special keepsake! My love and appreciation for antiques and collectibles began with my dear grandmother taking me to Saturday farm auctions in Southwest Missouri when I was a kid. I remember long tables just covered with old, interesting stuff and me walking back and forth and looking at everything over and over again, fascinated!

  8. Just found your blog...I just love your canister. I'm sure you must love it since it belonged to your grandmother. I have many things in my home that belonged to my family that I treasure...especially since they've gone home to be with the Lord.
