Good morning everyone. Hope your day is going well. I've included some more pictures from the hike we took a week ago. It was so beautiful that day!
Do you ever start a project and then realize that maybe you should have just 'left well enough alone'? That is the way my curtains are going. At first, I had decided to make them out of some material that I had. I changed my mind because the cordwood walls are a type of 'pattern' in themselves and I felt that patterned material clashed with the walls. Sooooo. . .I went to Wal Mart and bought two sets of "Five Piece Complete Window Set" curtains. I bought them extra long since it was the same price no matter the length and I can use the extra material for another project. So, all I would have to do was cut off the bottom and hem them, right? It says on the package that it includes--two panels, two tie backs and one valance. Sounded simple enough to me. Of course, when I got home and opened the package, I discovered that the two panels and the valence were really one piece all sewn together!
So, now I am in the process of taking them apart as I don't really want the valance sewn on them. Hope any projects you are working on are going a little better!
Have a great day.

ROSEMARY,
ReplyDeleteMaybe making curtains out of some pretty sheets would have been the easier way to go, My goodness this has turned into a project. How is it going now? I think it was on NIKI'S site, she made some curtains out of a couple of lace table cloths. Well I still want to see pictures when they are done.
I bet everything will turn out real pretty.

Thanks Nancy Jo! I made my bedroom curtains out of damask tablecloths and they turned out great. I honestly thought that these curtains were seperate and all I would have to do is cut and hem them. Live and learn! BTW--don't expect too much--they are just creamy white damask type material! I'm also going to do some painting in my kitchen/dining area, so I may wait until all the the work is done before I post any pictures.
ReplyDeleteYES!! I've started projects many times and wished we would left well enough alone, but like you said, it's all a learning experience. Hope your curtains turn out the way you want, will you show us the end result? :)
ReplyDeletewhat a nice hiking area you have!

I'm not one to sew or redo anything, I just admire people that do!!
:-D
How exciting your hike must have been.
ReplyDeleteSuch amazingly detailed photo's and the weather looks glorious too.
I much prefer outdoors and when the weather permits - it is my favourite abode - one might say.
Thanks for sharing.
ps I'll leave the curtains issue to those more experienced than I - who still retains his "Learner" plates in such matters.
Blessings to you all

ReplyDeleteYou have your work cut out for you. Nice picture, glad to see that Spring is in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteWell- Ms. Martha Stewart- :) you are talking to someone who cannot sew. But I know whatever you do-it will turn out perfect. You have shown some of your work and I am jealous-cause I can't do it.
ReplyDeleteYou take beautiful pictures. I loved them.
Take care,
Love,
Terri
Seems to me that they should have called them a 3 piece set! Good luck.
