Fun Day Out!

Yesterday was a fun day out for me and B (dh). We headed north to the city and spent the day rummaging through thrift stuff, shopping at Wal Mart (of course) and eating lunch at Chic-Fil-A--a place we really enjoy.

As you can see, I purchased some seeds while I was gone. I've never grown cinnamon basil, but it sounds wonderful!! I've grown several different kinds of basil and have enjoyed all of them.

I love the scent of cinnamon. Sometimes I sprinkle it in the old dutch oven we keep full of water on our wood stove to help put moisture in our house. It gives a nice, heavenly type scent to the rooms.

Do any of you grow herbs in your house? I've never tried as I seem to have much better luck with plants growing outside than in. Still, if I could get something that smells like cinnamon to grow inside. . . . I may have to give it a try.

  3. I'll let you know if it works out. The wood heat may make the air too dry to grow it.

  4. Hi found your blog through Chris at CatsOnMyQuilts. I'm curious as to what a cordwood cabin is. My dream home is a log house. I've even gone so far as to buy magazines and a houseplan catalogue just in case of a cash windfall. LOL.
I can't believe that as soon as Christmas is over the seed packets come out. I've never grown herbs in the house, I'm afraid my cats would eat them. The cinnamon basil sounds very interesting.

  5. Hi Shirlee, I'm so glad you dropped by! I guess I forgot to mention that I am going to grow my herbs (or attempt to) with the plant pots inside of a birdcage--else I'll have a problem with my cats! Here is a link to some corwood info: www.daycreek.com
I know there's a better way to make the link, but I don't know how!

Eventually, I am going to go into more detail as to how we built our house. Cordwood is VERY labor intensive--but also less expensive than conventional building. Hope to talk to you more about it. I'm going over to check out your blog!
