Rainy Friday

The best kind of rain, of course, is a cozy rain. This is the kind the anonymous medieval poet makes me remember, the rain that falls on a day when you'd just as soon stay in bed a little longer, write letters or read a good book by the fire, take early tea with hot scones and jam and look out the streaked window with complacency. ~Susan Allen Toth, England For All Seasons

I think that Miss Toth about sums up one of my favorite ways to spend a rainy day. Of course, the following statement is true, too:

Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain. ~author unknown~

Running in the rain, trying to catch drops in my mouth was such a fun activity, always cut short by my mother as soon as she noticed it was raining!

Hope you are all having a great day, no matter what the weather.

RMary

"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

  7. Rosemary, thank you so much for the compliments. No I never made the dolls. An Amish friend of mine made them. They just recently, (her brothers) built our small cabin that we have across the creek from our house in a small meadow. They live a few miles from us so we had the cabin pulled here after it was finsished. It will be a quiet place to go to, without any electric or running water. I have an antique cast iron wood cook stove for heat and cooking we will use. It will be completely primitive and a quiet place to get away, and read my bible and other things.

  10. I love rainy days, especially when I can stay inside where it is warm. I love to go to sleep to the sound of the rain. It is so soothing. Our rainy season will be here before we know it. I hope it holds off until the cherry blossoms are done blooming. It's 55 and sunny today. We just had a blast from Siberia so we are enjoying the warmer weather!

  11. RoseMary, thank you very much. Tell your hubby thanks also! Yes I did take the picture at a "Women in the Outdoors", function. I took 3 classes, one was primitive cooking, and outdoor photography, and landscaping, the last one was boring, lol. But the photography class was very interesting and the teacher (who had also been my 6th grade math teacher; too funny) took us on a short hike and told us about how some uncommon things made really neat pics. I found this butterfly hung in a cedar tree and took like 10 pictures of him, I never did get one quite like I'd hoped. Everyone else was way down the trail and I got left behind because I was soooo busy with the butterfly. But I felt really good and all the other gals had wished they'd stayed behind with me. I kept yelling, "hey guys, here's a butterfly"! They ignored me and trudged on lol. I sounded like I'd struck gold or something rofl.

  13. Living in the pacific north WET as I do...I have a love/hate relationship with the rain. Right now I wish it would stop, as it's been a dreary, wet winter since November. That said, I've danced in the rain after an extened trip to California!

  14. I remember playing out in the rain as a child....so much fun.

Now we hear about acid rain and all those things that spoil so much fun.

Thanks for the visit and comment. I'm sure there are many "different" funerals.......
